Marvel’s Phase Five continues with the return of the deadly witch Agatha Harkness in her own Disney+ miniseries. Agatha All Along takes place after the events of WandaVision, the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s first Disney+ miniseries. Agatha seeks to regain her dark magic and gather a new coven of witches to help her complete the Witches’ Road trials. With the release of The Acolyte, witchy storylines are nothing new for a Disney+ series, but Agatha All Along will bring their powers to the forefront. Get to know all the characters in our who’s who of the Agatha All Along cast.
Agatha All Along Cast
Showrunner Jac Schaeffer has been attached to this project since 2021. With the overwhelming positive reaction to Agatha Harkness’ character in WandaVision, Schaeffer was tasked with creating a unique show for the character, complete with an all-star cast.
With Kathryn Hahn as the titular witch, diverse and fast-rising stars like Billy Kaplan, Ali Ahn and Sasheer Zamata, and bringing seasoned veterans like Aubrey Plaza and Okwui Okpokwasili, the show promises to be teaming with talent. We’ll also see returning cast members from WandaVision and a whole slew of other magical Marvel heroes and villains, potentially making the Agatha All Along cast one of the largest assembled for a MCU show.
Kathryn Hahn as Agatha Harkness
Kathryn Hahn brings her charismatic and commanding personality to Agatha who is here to spread chaos and dark magic. The mistress of the dark arts is struggling to escape her Westview prison spell cast upon her by Wanda Maximoff.
No stranger to playing charming supervillains, like Doc Ock in Spider-Man: Into the Spiderverse, Hahn keeps it dark and sassy as the powerful sorceress. Now hellbent on getting even stronger after Wanda cursed her, Hahn is sure to bring an Agatha that’s “witchier” than ever.
Joe Locke as Billy Kaplan (Wiccan)
Billy Kaplan (aka: Wiccan) makes his MCU debut as Agatha’s goth familiar with a dark sense of humor who helps her escape from Westview. Wiccan possesses similar abilities to that of the Scarlet Witch as he was the reincarnation of William Maximoff (aka: Wanda Maximoff) and Vision’s son in the comics (not to be confused with Billy, Wanda’s son she created from magic in Westview).
Joe Locke, best known for playing the introverted and sweet Charlie Spring in the Netflix Teen British drama Heartstopper, brings a new kind of energy to one of Marvel’s most well-known gay characters. Fans are excited to see the young Manx actor bring another LGBTQ character to life.
Sasheer Zamata as Jennifer Kale
“Witch-Woman” Jennifer Kale makes her MCU debut as a part of Agatha Harkness’ new coven. As part of the Kale family of witches, Jennifer is meant to be one of the most formidable and heroic witches in Marvel comics. Having joined heroic occult teams such as the Legion of Night and the Midnight Sons with Blade and Ghost Rider, Jennifer definitely has experience being on a team.
Sasheer Zamata, a former SNL cast member and best known for her characters from shows like Woke and Home Economics, can fit right in with this coven of witches. Zamata stated in an interview with Mashable.com that she’s always had a passion for witchcraft as it was highlighted in her stand-up show, The First Woman.
Ali Ahn as Alice Wu-Gulliver
The coven of Harkness grows bigger with the addition of Alice Wu-Gulliver. The daughter of a Hong Kong police detective, Adam Gulliver, and the daughter of a powerful magic guardian, August Wu, young Alice became a police officer while using magical abilities to protect the city of Hong Kong. Alice would fight crime under the name “The Wu” and teamed up with the Scarlet Witch.
Ali Ahn takes on the role. She’s best known for her portrayals of Suzanne Wu in Raising Dion, Agent Nguyen in Orange is the New Black, and Eidra Park in The Diplomat. She thrives in the superhero genre and in roles of authority, like when playing special agents or high ranking officials.
Maria Dizzia
Maria Dizzia joined the Agatha All Along cast in November 2022 and details about her character are yet to be revealed. Marvel Studios is keeping it hush hush for the time being, but some speculate Dizzia’s character could be a witch in Agatha’s coven.
Dizzia is known for her roles in psychological thrillers and mysteries like School Spirits and The Staircase.
Paul Adelstein
Another versatile actor who is playing undisclosed role in the Agatha All Along cast is Paul Adelstein. Perhaps we’ll see him as a magical familiar or trickster who tries to thwart Agatha’s plans.
Adelstein is best known for his work in network television dramas like Prison Break and Private Practice, but continues to show his range across genres in projects like Brooklyn Nine Nine, The Menu, and Cruel Summer.
Miles Gutierrez-Riley as Billy’s boyfriend
Miles Gutierrez-Riley joined the Agatha All Along cast in 2023 to play the role of Billy Kaplan’s boyfriend. It’s heavily rumored Gutierrez-Riley is playing the role of Hulkling, Wiccan’s romantic partner in the comics. With Wiccan debuting in the series, fans are naturally speculating until an official character name is revealed.
Gutierrez-Riley is best known for roles in the television series The Wilds and the upcoming horror film Smile 2.
Okwui Okpokwasili
One of Broadway’s greatest dancers and actresses is joining the Marvel series. Okwui Okpokwasili’s official role in the show is still unknown but it’s expected she’ll be one of the witches joining Agatha’s Coven.
A gifted actress and master of dance, Okpokwasili recently starred in the horror movie, The Exorcist: Believer, which is great preparation for her role in Agatha All Along.
Debra Jo Rupp as Sharon Davis
Debra Jo Rupp brings her WandaVision character to Agatha All Along. Rupp played Westview resident Sharon Davis (aka: Mrs. Hart), one of many brainwashed by Wanda Maximoff. Still resenting the Scarlet Witch for trapping her in a sitcom, Sharon appears to join Agatha’s coven—because any hater of Wanda is a friend of hers.
You’ll recognize Rupp from the beloved network sitcom That 70’s Show and it’s sequel That 90’s show. In Agatha All Along, Rupp steps out of her comfort zone into a role fueled by vengeance and dark magic.
Patti LuPone as Lilia Calderu
Patti LuPone brings more Broadway energy to the Disney+ series as the 450-year-old witch, Lilia Calderu. Reluctantly joining Agatha’s new coven, Lilia acts as the coven’s psychic or master of foresight. Though she may have her own goals when it comes to helping Agatha, Lilia is a powerful asset for Agatha’s plans.
The Tony winning actress and singer, famous for her theater roles in Evita, Gypsy, and Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street, is a real heavy hitter for the Agatha All Along cast.
Aubrey Plaza as Rio Vidal
The mistress of deadpan and sarcastic humor, Aubrey Plaza, makes her Marvel debut as the original MCU character, Rio Vidal. Not much is known about the mysterious character other than her abilities with dark magic and exorcism, as well as her desire to help Agatha regain her magic.
Plaza is best known for her comedic roles in Parks and Recreation and Scott Pilgrim vs. The World, while also being well-versed in supernatural media with roles in Life After Beth, Legion and the 2019 reboot of Child’s Play.
Agatha All Along Supporting Cast
WandaVision Actors Reprise Their Roles as Westview Residents
The sins of Wanda Maximoff’s misdeeds in Westview continue in Agatha All Along as the former brainwashed residents of the town appear in the new Disney+ series.
Emma Caulfield Ford, David Lengel, David Payton, Harold Proctor, Asif Ali, Amos Glick, and Brian Brightman reprise their roles as Sarah Proctor (Dottie), Harold Proctor (Phil), John Collins (Herb), Abilash Tandon (Norm), Dennis, and Sheriff Miller, respectively.
Kate Forbes as Evanora Harkness
Kate Forbes reprises her role of Agatha’s late mother, Evanora. Mother Harkness and her entire coven of good witches were killed by Agatha in a flashblack in episode 8 of WandaVision. Evanora’s spirit still lives on in Agatha’s magic and her appearance could be used to convince her daughter to stop her evil ways.
Agatha All Along Trailer
As Marvel continues to take big risks, Agatha All Along sends the MCU into a darker, horror-themed direction.
The first official trailer sees Agatha fighting against her Westview memories and her real ones with the help of Rio Vidal. The devilish Agatha All Along trailer song sets a hauntingly gothic tone as Agatha gathers her witches, both friendly and unfriendly, to showcase their formidable powers.
Curses, blood rituals, and exorcisms have made their way into the MCU and who’s to blame for that? Why, it’s Agatha. It’s been Agatha all along!
