As the latest installment in the Alien franchise prepares to terrify audiences this August, major theater chains are unleashing a horde of Xenomorph-inspired popcorn buckets that are bound to make your palms sweaty. These aren’t your average concession stand souvenirs. Alien: Romulus popcorn buckets are meticulously crafted collectibles that bring Alien‘s nightmarish creatures right into your lap.
From AMC’s eerie Facehugger design to Regal’s jaw-dropping Xenomorph head, each theater chain is offering a unique piece of sci-fi horror memorabilia that’s bound to sell out faster than a chestburster enters a dinner party.
AMC Alien: Romulus Facehugger Popcorn Bucket
Alien has boldly entered the ring in the battle for champion of the summer popcorn bucket wars. AMC’s exclusive Alien: Romulus popcorn bucket features a Facehugger wrapped around a traditional popcorn tin, making the snacking experience creepier than usual. The design pays special homage to Swiss artist H.R. Giger’s Facehugger from Ridley Scott’s Alien (1979). AMC’s design cleverly incorporates this terrifying alien spawn, gripping the bucket of buttered kernels in a way that’s sure to make eating in the dark an adventure.
Cinemark Alien: Romulus Xenomorph Popcorn Bucket
This isn’t your average movie snack container, it’s a full-on replica of the Xenomorph’s head, complete with the iconic elongated cranium. Cinemark’s exclusive Alien: Romulus popcorn bucket manages to be gruesome despite a monochromatic color palette. It features a lid that opens up, revealing a storage area for your buttery kernels. Let’s just be grateful acquiring your snack doesn’t involve reaching into its mouth à la AMC’s Deadpool & Wolverine popcorn bucket.
Regal Alien: Romulus Popcorn Buckets
Regal is going for “game over” with their rendition of the Alien: Romulus popcorn bucket. Similar to Cinemark’s bucket, the Xenomorph head is central to its design. Regal upped the ante by showing us the creature with an open mouth, which conveniently allows for a peek at the second set of jaws inside. If you love the look of scary creatures popping out of other scary creatures’ mouths, then you’ll not only be obsessed with this bucket but also the Sandworm version of the Beetlejuice Beetlejuice popcorn buckets.
Regal has plans to release other Alien: Romulus collectibles, but there’s no confirmation of whether these collectibles are popcorn buckets or other movie merchandise.
Where to Buy
While official release details and pricing remain under wraps for AMC and Regal, it’s likely each of these popcorn buckets will be available close to the film’s August 16 release date.
Cinemark announced their Alien: Romulus merch is available now, ahead of the movie’s release date.
To get your hands on your favorite of these creepy collectibles, head to a participating AMC, Cinemark, or Regal near you.
