Disney’s highly talked about live-action remake of Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs has finally released its teaser trailer at D23. This reimagining of the beloved 1937 animated classic is a fresh take on the classic story, blending nostalgia with contemporary themes.

The teaser introduces us to the film’s leading ladies, with Rachel Zegler stepping into the iconic role of Snow White and Gal Gadot as the Evil Queen.

At D23, both actresses expressed their enthusiasm for the project. Zegler shared, “It’s been the honor of a lifetime. I think any young person, any little girl if you get to put on a Disney princess dress and be her for a day let alone six months… it’s just been the most amazing experience.”

Gadot, known for her portrayal of Wonder Woman, enjoyed the opportunity to explore her dark side. “It was a lot of fun to get to do something that is completely different than anything I’ve ever done before,” she remarked. “She’s delicious, she’s evil, she’s magical.”

The teaser offers glimpses of the film’s visual effects, including the much-discussed seven dwarfs. While most early commentary has been divided on the creative choices for the film, the teaser reveals intricate details that aim to pull audiences into the world of a storybook, from lush forest settings to brightly colored costumes.

Few words are sung or spoken in the teaser. Only Snow White and the Queen can be heard against the backdrop of a dramatic take of “Whistle While You Work,” sung by Zegler. Audiences will have to wait for the film’s release to hear from the film’s other characters.

Originally slated for a March 2024 release but pushed back due to the SAG-AFTRA strike, the film will open in theaters on March 21, 2025.
