Star Wars Black Series Helmets
Hasbro launched The Black Series line in 2013 with the release of Star Wars 6-inch action figures. In 2015 the line grew to include Star Wars helmets. As of this writing, there are 28 helmets in the Black Series collection in total.
Star Wars Black Series helmets have details fine-tuned to reflect Star Wars lore, with some helmets offering built-in visual or sound effects. As long as you’re still on Earth and not, say, Kamino, utilizing these functions will require batteries, which are not included. So don’t forget to stock up or risk being the silent laughing stock of the clone army!
While these helmets are great for celebrating Star Wars Day in style, they wouldn’t be recommended headgear for repairing the Death Star. In other words, enjoy the Black Series helmets for cosplay and display purposes, but do not use these helmets as safety gear.
You’ll notice some helmets are no longer in stock direct from retailers. In these instances, your best option for obtaining one of these bad boys will be limited to purchasing through third party marketplaces, like eBay, or at your local collectibles store. Prices will differ from retail and reflect the current collectibles market.
Now, let’s get into the details on these remarkable replicas.
Kylo Ren Helmet
The first Star Wars Black Series helmet ever released belongs to the one and only grandson of Darth Vader. This two-piece design retails for $79.99 and features an electronic voice changer to give you that deep, scary Sith lord voice. It also comes with dents and scratches intact so you can look like you’ve worn it into battle without having to get close to an actual Jedi.
Kylo Ren Black Series Helmet
Release Date: 2015
Retail Price: $79.99
Batteries: 3 AA batteries
Shadow Trooper Helmet
This Shadow Trooper helmet features a design taken from the 2015 video game Star Wars Battlefront. The helmet is predominately black with silver, grey, and blue details featured through. It contains a battery-operated voice changer, but it can also play pre-recorded lines if you think you just don’t have what it takes to put the proper fear into rebel scum.
Shadow Trooper Black Series Helmet
Release Dates: 2016, July 2024 (second run)
Retail Price: $79.99, $99.99 (second run)
Batteries: 3 AAA batteries
Imperial Stormtrooper Helmet
Although this helmet was designed after the Stormtrooper helmets in Rogue One, make no mistake: these are the OG Stormtoopers. Featuring a brilliant white design with grey and black markings, it also comes equipped with a voice changer so you and your friends can sound like the identical clones that you were meant to be. If it were a real Stormtrooper helmet, however, you wouldn’t be able to see out of it, so you’d have that authentic Stormtrooper aim.
Imperial Stormtrooper Black Series Helmet
Release Dates: 2016, April 2024 (second run)
Retail Price: $79.99, $99.99 (second run)
Batteries: 3 AAA batteries
Poe Dameron Helmet
Be just like the roguishly handsome Poe Dameron with this Black Series replica of his X-Wing fighter pilot helmet, complete with retractable yellow visor. While this helmet doesn’t offer a voice changer – nobody can emulate the smooth tones of Poe Dameron – it comes with speakers so you can hear BB-8’s beeps and boops, as well as the sounds of X-Wings whizzing by! Better yet, the sounds are voice activated, so you can argue with your favorite ball droid!
Poe Dameron Black Series Helmet
Release Date: 2017
Retail Price: $79.99
Batteries: 3 AA batteries
Darth Vader Helmet
You can cosplay as everyone’s favorite Sith Lord with this excellent replica of Darth Vader’s iconic helmet. While it doesn’t come with a voice changer, it’s outfitted with a variety of sounds that will make it feel like you stepped right out of the movie. The helmet makes a hissing noise when the outer mask is removed and a mechanical “thunk” when it’s sealed. And yes, of course it makes the infamous breathing sounds.
Darth Vader Black Series Helmet
Release Date: 2018, 2021 (second run)
Retail Price: $99.99, $124.99 (second run)
Batteries: 3 AAA batteries
Imperial Shock Trooper Helmet
While the Black Series Shadow Trooper helmet is designed after armor in Star Wars Battlefront, the Imperial Shock Trooper helmet borrows the design from Star Wars Battlefront II. It features a similar design to that of a typical Stormtrooper, but the big difference is the addition of menacing crimson lines up and down the front. It’s surprising what you can achieve with just a splash of red. This is a GameStop exclusive that retails for $99.99.
Imperial Shock Trooper Black Series Helmet
Release Date: 2018
Retail Price: $99.99
Details: GameStop Exclusive
Batteries: 3 AAA batteries
Boba Fett Helmet (Empire Strikes Back)
Everyone’s favorite bounty hunter is represented here in his full, blaster-charred, scratched up glory. Boba Fett’s helmet circa The Empire Strikes Back is nothing pretty to look at, showing the tell-tale signs of a hard life catching tough bounties. The likeness is impressive, and it even comes with a light-up LED range finder. Better yet, if you drop this thing a time or two, nobody will be able to tell.
Boba Fett Black Series Helmet
Release Date: 2019, 2022 (second run)
Retail Price: $199.99, $124.99 (second run)
Batteries: 3 AAA batteries
Incinerator Stormtrooper Helmet
The Incinerator Stormtroopers made their appearance in The Mandalorian, which is where this replica gets its design. Like the Imperial Shock helmet, this is essentially a Stormtrooper helmet with an effective red pattern on the front. It’s important to note that, while the Incinerator armor in the show was heat-resistant, if you test this thing against an open flame, you’re going to be one sad Star Wars fan.
Incinerator Stormtrooper Black Series Helmet
Release Date: 2019
Retail Price: $99.99
Batteries: 3 AAA batteries
Luke Skywalker Helmet (X-Wing or Battle Simulation)
While the Poe Dameron X-Wing helmet lets you talk to BB-8, the Luke Skywalker X-Wing helmet unfortunately doesn’t let you converse with R2-D2. Let’s just assume that our favorite astromech droid is taking a much-needed oil bath while we’re out cruising the galaxy. What this helmet does offer, however, is incoming blaster fire from enemy ships, both through the speakers and the built-in visor. Retails for $99.99. Targeting computer not included. Must use force.
Luke Skywalker Black Series Helmet
Release Date: 2019
Retail Price: $99.99
Batteries: 3 AAA batteries
Captain Cardinal Helmet
This is a rather unique helmet as it hasn’t actually appeared in any visual Star Wars media. The character of Captain Cardinal can be found in the book Phasma and the helmet itself is modeled after the First Order Trooper helmets that can be found at Disneyland’s Galaxy’s Edge. It’s a nice nod to the literary Star Wars fans and retails for $99.99.
Captain Cardinal Black Series Helmet
Release Date: 2020
Retail Price: $99.99
Details: Target Exclusive
Batteries: 3 AAA batteries
Boba Fett Helmet (White, Prototype Armor)
If you’re not entirely familiar with Boba Fett’s origins as a character, you may think that Hasbro forgot to paint this helmet. The famous bounty hunter’s very first appearance wasn’t in The Empire Strikes Back, but the infamous Holiday Star Wars Special, where Fett appeared in animated form, sporting a white helmet. This fun throwback features a light up range finder, as well as illuminated heads-up display on the interior. It retails for $99.99.
Boba Fett Black Series Helmet
Release Dates: 2020, January 2024 (second run)
Retail Price: $99.99 (both runs)
Batteries: 3 AAA batteries
Boba Fett Helmet (Re-Armored)
If you’re looking to cosplay as a Boba Fett who doesn’t look like he’s been through a detention level garbage masher, this is the helmet for you. This replica is designed after the helmet’s appearance in the The Book of Boba Fett miniseries, where it’s been nicely cleaned up and restored. Except for that nasty blaster dent in the top of it. You’re not buffing that thing out. Helmet features the LED rangefinder, the heads-up display, and retails for $119.99.
Boba Fett Black Series Helmet
Release Date: 2021
Retail Price: $119.99
Batteries: 3 AAA batteries
Mandalorian Death Watch Helmet
The Mandalorian Death Watch helmets obviously bear a striking resemblance to the standard Mandalorian helmet, although with different colors. They feature the same fold-down LED rangefinder, as well as the internal heads-up display that lights up. These were a Gamestop exclusive and retail for $119.99. While these helmets may not be crafted from beskar steel like true Mandalorian helmets, with a name like Death Watch, it’s highly unlikely that anyone would dare to get close enough to discover the difference.
Mandalorian Death Watch Black Series Helmet
Release Date: 2021
Retail Price: $119.99
Details: GameStop Exclusive
Batteries: 3 AAA batteries
First Order Stormtrooper Helmet
It’s hard to say if they shoot any straighter, but the First Order Stormtroopers sure have sleek helmets. This beautiful all-white design comes with a voice distorter and interior padding that can be removed to make it a little bigger. At this point in the story, Stormtroopers aren’t clones anymore, so they have heads of all different sizes! This Black Series replica was released in 2021 and retails for $99.99.
First Order Stormtrooper Black Series Helmet
Release Date: 2021
Retail Price: $99.99
Batteries: 3 AA batteries
The Mandalorian Helmet
If you want to cosplay as a Mandalorian, then this is the way. Modeled after Din Djarin’s shiny beskar steel helmet, this Black Series replica is the perfect souvenir for fans of The Mandalorian. The right side of the helmet boasts a tactical light and the inside glows red if you flip it upside down. It retails for $119.99. Sadly, Grogu is nowhere to be seen.
The Mandalorian Black Series Helmet
Release Date: 2021, August 2023 (second run)
Retail Price: $119.99, $131.99 (second run)
Batteries: 1 AA battery
Wedge Antilles Helmet
When we’re talking about veteran X-Wing pilots, let’s not forget the greatest underdog of them all: Wedge Antilles. Like the Luke Skywalker helmet, you’ll be able to see and hear the effects of blaster fire. The best thing about this helmet, however, is the ability to swap between the Battle of Yavin and the Battle of Hoth, which will provide different sounds. You’ll also hear from Wedge’s droid R2-A3. The helmet retails for $99.99. Fingers crossed for a Porkins helmet next!
Wedge Antilles Helmet Black Series Helmet
Release Date: 2021
Retail Price: $99.99
Batteries: 3 AAA batteries
Bo-Katan Kryze Helmet
The first of the female character helmets in The Black Series is one you don’t want to miss. Bo-Katan’s blue and white design is unmistakable and well worth the $124.99 retail price tag. The rangefinder flips down and lights up in a “hunting” pattern. You may not have the darksaber, but you’ll have a pretty sweet headpiece.
Bo-Katan Kryze Black Series Helmet
Release Date: May 2022
Retail Price: $124.99
Batteries: 3 AAA batteries
Darth Vader Helmet (Obi-Wan Series)
While Vader’s helmet doesn’t change much throughout all of the Star Wars movies and shows, the Sith Lord’s appearance in Obi-Wan Kenobi on Disney+ did feature a slightly different helmet. Hasbro wasted little time releasing a replica of this newer design. The helmet features the former Jedi’s iconic breathing, but this version also sports deep red eyes. If anyone had any doubts about how evil Vader is, the red eyes should clear those doubts up. Retails for $131.99.
Darth Vader Black Series Helmet
Release Date: September 2022
Retail Price: $131.99
Batteries: 2 AAA batteries
Trapper Wolf Helmet
Trapper Wolf, along with Carson Teva, was a minor character that made a huge impact when he showed up on The Mandalorian. His pilot helmet is the only Black Series helmet inspired by the New Republic. It’s yellow and black and sports both the Rebels insignia and a wolf’s head along the top. Thanks to the built-in speaker, you’ll get communication from Captain Carson Teva himself. The helmet retails for $131.99.
Trapper Wolf Black Series Helmet
Release Date: 2023
Retail Price: $131.99
Batteries: 3 AAA batteries
Artillery Stormtrooper Helmet
Artillery Stormtrooper helmets share a design with the Incinerator Stormtrooper helmet, but they trade the dark red for a more vibrant orange. Moff Gideon just has good fashion sense, apparently. Retailing at $131.99, the helmet comes complete with a voice changer and adjustable components to help fit your head. What it doesn’t come with, however, is an actual mortar. That would cost extra.
Artillery Stormtrooper Black Series Helmet
Release Date: 2023
Retail Price: $131.99

Phase II Clone Trooper Helmet
There are so many variations of the Clone Trooper helmet out there, including custom modifications performed by the characters themselves, that you may have forgotten how white and shiny the standard helmet is.
